Shaun Wilson

Shaun knew he had to make films after seeing Back to the Future when he was 6. After finishing college he forewent getting a degree in a sensible field and instead spent his university years making no-budget films. With some basic training and access to gear at a local college, Shaun experimented with drama, comedy, action, adventure, fantasy, film-noir and even tried a musical. Meanwhile, he became a regular crew member in the Tasmanian film industry on productions of every scale in varying roles.

In 2006 he was selected to take part in the Screen Tasmania/AFTRS Short Fuse programme. Beyond the intensive training sessions, this led to collaboration with writer Tim Logan and writer/producer Nathan Spencer. In 2008 they formed Sky Machine. Henry Finn was the first film to come out of this collaboration, funded through Wide Angle Tasmania and the Australian Film Commission. They soon followed this up with Dish Communication, completed in January 2009 and shortlisted in Tropfest 2009.
